Then the year 335 AH began
فِي هَذِهِ السَّنَةِ اخْتَلَفَ مُعِزُّ الدَّوْلَةِ بْنُ بُوَيْهِ وَأَبُو الْقَاسِمِ بْنُ الْبَرِيدِيِّ وَالِي الْبَصْرَةِ ، فَأَرْسَلَ مُعِزُّ الدَّوْلَةِ جَيْشًا إِلَى وَاسِطَ، فَسَيَّرَ إِلَيْهِمُ ابْنُ الْبَرِيدِيِّ جَيْشًا مِنَ الْبَصْرَةِ فِي الْمَاءِ وَعَلَى الظَّهْرِ، فَالْتَقَوْا وَاقْتَتَلُوا، فَانْهَزَمَ أَصْحَابُ الْبَرِيدِيِّ، وَأُسِرَ مِنْ أَعْيَانِهِمْ جَمَاعَةٌ كَثِيرَةٌ.
Translation
✧ In this year, Muʿizz al-Dawlah b. Buwayh and Abū al-Qāsim b. al-Barīdī, the governor of al-Baṣrah, fell into disagreement. Muʿizz al-Dawlah sent an army to Wāsiṭ, and Ibn al-Barīdī dispatched against them an army from al-Baṣrah by water and by land. They met and fought, and al-Barīdī’s men were routed, and a large group of their notables was taken captive.
