The Year 207 AH
وَفِيهَا أَمَرَ الْمَأْمُونُ السَّيِّدَ بْنَ أَنَسٍ، وَالِيَ الْمَوْصِلِ، بِقَصْدِ بَنِي شَيْبَانَ وَغَيْرِهِمْ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ، لِإِفْسَادِهِمْ فِي الْبِلَادِ، فَسَارَ إِلَيْهِمْ، وَكَبَسَهُمْ بِالدَّسْكَرَةِ، فَقَتَلَهُمْ وَنَهَبَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ وَعَادَ.
Translation
✧ In this year, al-Maʾmūn ordered al-Sayyid b. Anas, the governor of al-Mawṣil, to pursue Banū Shaybān and other Arabs, because of their corruption in the lands. He marched against them, fell upon them by surprise at al-Daskarah, killed them, plundered their wealth, and returned.
