Then the year 144 AH began
وَفِيهَا ثَارَ هِشَامُ بْنُ عُذْرَةَ الْفِهْرِيُّ ( وَهُوَ مِنْ بَنِي عَمْرٍو، وَيُوسُفُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْفِهْرِيُّ ) بِطُلَيْطُلَةَ عَلَى الْأَمِيرِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأُمَوِيِّ، فَاتَّبَعَهُ مَنْ فِيهَا، فَسَارَ إِلَيْهِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ فَحَاصَرَهُ وَشَدَّدَ عَلَيْهِ الْحِصَارَ، فَمَالَ إِلَى الصُّلْحِ وَأَعْطَاهُ ابْنَهُ أَفْلَحَ رَهِينَةً، فَأَخَذَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَرَجَعَ إِلَى قُرْطُبَةَ، فَرَجَعَ هِشَامٌ وَخَلَعَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ، فَعَادَ إِلَيْهِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَحَاصَرَهُ وَنَصَبَ عَلَيْهِ الْمَجَانِيقَ، فَلَمْ يُؤَثِّرْ فِيهَا لِحَصَانَتِهَا، فَقَتَلَ أَفْلَحَ ابْنَهُ، وَرَمَى رَأْسَهُ فِي الْمَنْجَنِيقِ، وَرَحَلَ إِلَى قُرْطُبَةَ، وَلَمْ يَظْفَرْ بِهِشَامٍ.
Translation
✧ In it, Hishām b. ʿUdhrah al-Fihrī (and he is from Banū ʿAmr, and Yūsuf b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Fihrī) revolted in Ṭulayṭulah against the amīr ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Umawī, and those in it followed him. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān marched to him and besieged him and tightened the siege upon him. He inclined to a settlement and gave him his son Aflaḥ as a hostage. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān took him and returned to Qurṭubah. Then Hishām returned and renounced allegiance to ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. So ʿAbd al-Raḥmān returned to him and besieged him and set mangonels upon it, but they had no effect on it because of its fortification. Then he killed his son Aflaḥ and hurled his head in the mangonel, and departed to Qurṭubah, without capturing Hishām.
