Mention of Year Nine and Its Designation as the Year of Delegations
[ مَوْتُ عَامِرٍ بِدُعَاءِ الرَّسُولِ عَلَيْهِ ] وَخَرَجُوا رَاجِعِينَ إلَى بِلَادِهِمْ، حَتَّى إذَا كَانُوا بِبَعْضِ الطَّرِيقِ، بَعَثَ اللَّهُ عَلَى عَامِرِ بْنِ الطُّفَيْلِ الطَّاعُونَ فِي عُنُقِهِ، فَقَتَلَهُ اللَّهُ فِي بَيْتِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي سَلُولَ، فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ: يَا بَنِي عَامِرٍ، أَغُدَّةٌ كَغُدَّةِ الْبَكْرِ فِي بَيْتِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي سَلُولَ قَالَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ: وَيُقَالُ أَغُدَّةٌ كَغُدَّةِ الْإِبِلِ، وَمَوْتًا فِي بَيْتِ سَلُولِيَّةٍ.
Translation
✧ [The death of ʿĀmir by the supplication of the Messenger against him] And they departed returning to their lands, until when they were on part of the way, God sent upon ʿĀmir b. al-Ṭufayl the plague in his neck, and God killed him in the house of a woman of Banū Salūl. He kept saying: O Banū ʿĀmir, a gland like the gland of a young camel in the house of a woman of Banū Salūl! Ibn Hishām said: And it is said: A gland like the gland of camels, and a death in the house of a Salūlī woman.
