The story of Salih (peace and blessings be upon him)
Translation
✧ They are a well-known tribe; it is said: Thamūd, after the name of their ancestor Thamūd, brother of Jadīs, and the two are the sons of ʿĀbar b. Iram b. Sām b. Nūḥ. They were Arabs from al-ʿĀribah, dwelling in al-Ḥijr, which lies between al-Ḥijāz and Tabūk. One of them would build dwellings from mud bricks, and they would collapse while the man was still alive. When they saw that, they took to making houses from the mountains, carving them, hollowing them, and excavating them.
