✧ Ubayy b. Ka'b: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in the Fajr prayer, then he mentioned the hadith. 'They have disagreed about the hadith on the authority of Abu Ishaq in four ways, and the narration from Abi Basir and his son Abdullah is all authentic, and the evidence for it is the narration of Khalid b. al-Harith.' Shu'bah narrated to us from Abu Ishaq, and Mu'adh b. Mu'adh al-Anbari and Yahya b. Sa'id from Shu'bah. 'As for the hadith of Khalid b. al-Harith.'

  • Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥākim

machine translationThey differed concerning the hadith on the authority of Abū Isḥāq in four ways, and the transmission in them from Abū Baṣīr and his son ʿAbdullāh is all sound (ṣaḥīḥ). The evidence for this is the narration of Khālid b. al-Ḥārith: Shuʿbah narrated to us from Abū Isḥāq, and that of Muʿādh b. Muʿādh al-ʿAnbarī and Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd, from Shuʿbah.

  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

machine translationHe is not strong (laysa bi-l-qawī); a report like his is not used as evidence.

machine translationThe hadith is the hadith of Shuʿbah.

  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

machine translationThey used as evidence the hadith of Abū Baṣīr from Ubayy b. Kaʿb, raised to the Prophet (marfūʿ), to that effect, but it is a hadith that is not strong (laysa bi-l-qawī).

  • Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥākim

machine translationHe declared it sound (ṣaḥḥaḥahu).

  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationAbū Isḥāq had a wide range of hadith. It is possible that he heard from Abū Baṣīr, that he heard from Ibn Abī Baṣīr from Abū Baṣīr, and that he heard from al-ʿAyzār from Abū Baṣīr. My father said: I heard Sulaymān b. Ḥarb say: Wahb b. Jarīr informed me, he said: Shuʿbah said: Abū Isḥāq heard this hadith from both ʿAbdullāh b. Abī Baṣīr and from Abū Baṣīr.
