✧ 'The people should be led in prayer by the earliest of them in emigration. If they are equal in emigration, then the most knowledgeable of them in religion. If they are equal in religion, then the one who recites the Qur'an most. And a man should not be led in his own domain of authority, nor should one sit on his place of honor except with his permission.'

machine translationIts transmission revolves around Ismāʿīl b. Rajāʾ, from Aws b. Ḍamʿaj, from him. Neither of the two meets the condition of al-Bukhārī. Ibn Abī Ḥātim reported in al-ʿIlal from his father that Shuʿbah used to withhold judgement on the authenticity of this hadith. However, in general it is suitable to be used as evidence according to al-Bukhārī.
