حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ خَالِدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الزِّيَادِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ الْأَصْبَحِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ
«لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ مَا أَعْلَمُ لَبَكَيْتُمْ كَثِيرًا وَلَضَحِكْتُمْ قَلِيلًا يَظْهَرُ النِّفَاقُ وَتُرْفَعُ الْأَمَانَةُ وَتُقْبَضُ الرَّحْمَةُ وَيُتَّهَمُ الْأَمِينُ وَيُؤْتَمَنُ غَيْرُ الْأَمِينِ أَنَاخَ بِكُمُ السَّرَفُ وَالْحُوبُ» قَالُوا وَمَا السَّرَفُ وَالْحُوبُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «الْفِتَنُ كَأَمْثَالِ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ»

✧ "If you knew what I know, you would weep much and laugh little. Hypocrisy will appear, trust will be lifted, mercy will be withheld, the trustworthy will be accused, and the untrustworthy will be entrusted. Extravagance and sin have settled upon you." They said: "What are extravagance and sin, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Tribulations like patches of dark night."
