أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْوَزِيرِ التَّاجِرُ ثَنَا أَبُو حَاتِمٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الرَّازِيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو اللَّيْثِيُّ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ
لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ وَهَذِهِ السُّورَةُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ {إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُمْ مَيِّتُونَ ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عِنْدَ رَبِّكُمْ تَخْتَصِمُونَ} [الزمر 31] قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُكَرَّرُ عَلَيْنَا مَا بَيْنَنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعَ خَوَاصِّ الذُّنُوبِ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ لَيُكَرَّرَنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى يُؤَدِّيَ إِلَى كُلِّ ذِي حَقٍّ حَقَّهُ» قَالَ الزُّبَيْرُ «وَاللَّهِ إِنَّ الْأَمْرَ لَشَدِيدٌ»

✧ When this verse and this surah were revealed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: {Indeed, you are to die, and indeed they are to die. Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, before your Lord will dispute} [al-Zumar:31], al-Zubayr said, "O Messenger of Allah, will what was between us in this world, along with the particular sins, be repeated upon us?" He said, "Yes, it will certainly be repeated upon you until every rightful owner is given his right." Al-Zubayr said, "By Allah, the matter is indeed severe."
