✧ I was sitting with the Prophet ﷺ, and he mentioned the fitnah, or it was mentioned to him. He said, “When people’s covenants become corrupted, their trusts become light, and they become like this”—and he interlaced his fingers. I stood up to him and said, “How should I act at that time, O Messenger of Allah? May Allah make me your ransom.” He said, “Restrain your tongue, sit in your house, take what you know and leave what you disapprove of, attend to your own self, and leave aside the affairs of the common people.”
