حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثَنَا وَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ثَنَا أَبُو مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ قَالَ

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ اعْهَدْ إِلَيْنَا فَقَالَ «عَلَيْكُمْ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ وَلُزُومِ جَمَاعَةِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى لَنْ يَجْمَعَ جَمَاعَةَ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَى ضَلَالَةٍ وَإِنَّ دَيْنَ اللَّهِ وَاحِدٌ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالتَّلَوُّنَ فِي دَيْنِ اللَّهِ وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ وَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى يَسْتَرِيحَ بَرٌّ وَيُسْتَرَاحُ مِنْ فَاجِرٍ»

✧ We went out with Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari and said to him, “Give us instructions.” He said: “You must have piety toward Allah and adherence to the community of Muhammad ﷺ, for Allah Almighty will never gather the community of Muhammad upon misguidance. The religion of Allah is one. Beware of changing colors in the religion of Allah. You must have piety toward Allah and be patient until a righteous person finds rest and relief is obtained from a wicked person.”
