✧ When the pledge of allegiance to Yazid b. Muawiyah came about, I said: 'If only I could go out to Syria and keep away from the evil of this pledge.' So I went out until I reached Syria. I was told of a place where Nawf was giving a talk, so I went to him. There was a man with weak eyes, wearing a cloak—it was Abdullah b. Amr b. al-As. When Nawf saw him, he stopped speaking. Abdullah said to him: 'Continue with what you were narrating.' He said: 'You are more entitled to speak than I; you are a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' He said: 'These people—meaning the rulers—have prevented us from narrating.' He said: 'I adjure you to narrate to us a hadith you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' He said: 'I heard him say: "There will be a migration after a migration; people will move to the migration place of Ibrahim. None will remain on earth except the worst of its people. Their land will cast them out, and their own souls will abhor them, and Allah will gather them to the Fire with monkeys and pigs. It will spend the night with them when they spend the night, take its midday rest with them when they rest, and eat those who lag behind."'
