حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ الْمَدِينِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي ثَوْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ وَمُوسَى بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَتَرْكَبُنَّ سُنَنَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ شِبْرًا بِشِبْرٍ وَذِرَاعًا بِذِرَاعٍ حَتَّى لَوْ أَنَّ أَحَدَهُمْ دَخَلَ حُجْرَ ضَبٍّ لَدَخَلْتُمْ وَحَتَّى لَوْ أَنَّ أَحَدَهُمْ جَامِعَ امْرَأَتَهُ بِالطَّرِيقِ لَفَعَلْتُمُوهُ» صَحِيحٌصحيح

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'You will certainly follow the ways of those before you, span by span and cubit by cubit, until if one of them entered a lizard's hole, you would enter it, and until if one of them had intercourse with his wife on the road, you would do it.' Authentic.
