أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ بِمَكَّةَ حَرَسَهَا اللَّهُ تَعَالَى ثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنْبَأَ مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ
«ثَارَتِ الْفِتْنَةُ وَأَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَشَرَةُ آلَافٍ لَمْ يَخْفَ فِيهَا مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا أَرْبَعُونَ رَجُلًا وَقَفَ مَعَ عَلِيٍّ مِائَتَانِ وَبِضْعَةٌ وَأَرْبَعُونَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ فِيهِمْ أَبُو أَيُّوبَ وَسَهْلُ بْنُ حُنَيْفٍ وَعَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ»

✧ The tribulation erupted while the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ numbered ten thousand, and none of them remained aloof from it except forty men. Two hundred and forty-some men of the people of Badr stood with 'Ali, among them Abu Ayyub, Sahl b. Hunayf, and 'Ammar b. Yasir.
