✧ From Zaynab, the wife of 'Abdullah, that she had a redness in her face, and an old woman entered upon her and recited a ruqya over her into a thread and tied it on her. Ibn Mas'ud entered, saw it on her, and said: 'What is this?' She said: 'I sought ruqya for the redness.' He stretched out his hand and cut it, then said: 'The family of 'Abdullah is indeed free of need from shirk.' She said: Then he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told us: "Indeed ruqā, talismans, and tawliya are shirk."' He said: I said: 'What is tawliya?' He said: 'Tawliya is that which arouses men.'
