✧ The first surah the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited to the people was al-Hajj, until when he recited it he prostrated and the people prostrated, except for a man who took some dust and prostrated upon it. I saw him later killed as a disbeliever.

machine translation"This is an authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) hadith meeting the criteria of the two Shaykhs, through both chains together, though they did not record it." They only agreed upon the hadith of Shuʿbah, from Abū Isḥāq, from al-Aswad, from ʿAbdullāh, that the Prophet ﷺ recited {وَالنَّجْمِ} ("By the star"), and he mentioned it with similar wording. "Neither of the other two hadiths is faulted by this, for I do not know anyone who followed Shuʿbah in mentioning al-Najm other than Qays b. al-Rabīʿ. What scholarly judgement leads to is the authenticity of both hadiths, and God knows best. It has also been narrated by the chain of the narration of ʿAbdullāh b. Lahīʿah that in Sūrat al-Ḥajj there are two prostrations." Zakariyyā b. Abī Zāʾidah corroborated it from Abū Isḥāq, meeting their criteria.
