أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الزَّاهِدُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثَنَا أُسَيْدُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ ثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ ثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي قَيْسٍ الْأَوْدِيِّ عَنْ هُزَيْلِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ أَبَا مُوسَى وَسَلْمَانَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ فِي ابْنَةٍ وَابْنَةِ ابْنٍ وَأُخْتٍ لِأَبٍ وَأُمٍّ فَقَالَا لِلِابْنَةِ النِّصْفُ وَلِلْأُخْتِ النِّصْفُ وَقَالَا ائْتِ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ فَإِنَّهُ سَيُتَابِعُنَا فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ

لَقَدْ ضَلَلْتُ إِذًا وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُهْتَدِينَ وَلَكِنِّي أَقْضِي بِمَا قَضَى بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِلِابْنَةِ النِّصْفُ وَلِابْنَةِ الِابْنِ السُّدُسُ وَمَا بَقِيَ فَلِلْأُخْتِ

✧ I would have certainly gone astray then, and I am not among the rightly guided. But I judge according to what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ judged: for the daughter is half, for the son's daughter is one-sixth, and what remains is for the sister.
