أَخْبَرَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ الشَّعْرَانِيُّ ثَنَا جَدِّي ثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ الْحِزَامِيُّ ثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْفَرَّاءُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ شُعَيْبٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ

سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْفَرَعِ فَقَالَ «الْفَرَعُ حَقٌّ وَإِنْ تَرَكْتَهُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ ابْنَ مَخَاضٍ أَوِ ابْنَ لَبُونٍ فَتَحْمِلَ عَلَيْهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَوْ تُعْطِيَهُ أَرْمَلَةً خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَنْ تَذْبَحَهُ يَلْصَقَ لَحْمُهُ بِوَبَرِهِ وَتُولِهُ نَاقَتَكَ» صحيح

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about the fara‘. He said, “The fara‘ is a duty. If you leave it until it becomes a bint makhad or a bint labun, and you carry things on it in the way of Allah or give it to a widow, that is better than slaughtering it while its meat sticks to its wool and you leave your she-camel bereft.” Sahih.
