✧ The first time the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell ill was in the house of Maymunah. His pain became severe until he lost consciousness. He said: The women consulted about giving him an oral-medicine injection, so they gave it to him. When he regained consciousness, he said: “This is not the act of women who came from here” – and he pointed to the land of Abyssinia. Asma’ bt. ‘Umays was among them. They said: Their conjecture is that you have pleurisy, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “That is a disease with which Allah would never afflict me. No one in the house shall remain unless he is given the oral-medicine injection, except the uncle of the Messenger of Allah” – meaning ‘Abbas. He said: “Maymunah was given it that day while she was fasting, by the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”
