أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْقَاضِي ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ قَالَ
كَانَ النَّاسُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ قَبْلَ الْإِسْلَامِ يَجُبُّونَ أَسْنِمَةَ الْإِبِلِ وَيَقْطَعُونَ أَلْيَاتَ الْغَنَمِ فَيَأْكُلُونَهَا وَيَحْمِلُونَ مِنْهَا الْوَدَكَ فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ سَأَلُوهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «مَا قُطِعَ مِنَ الْبَهِيمَةِ وَهِيَ حَيَّةٌ فَهُوَ مَيِّتٌ»

✧ In pre-Islamic times, people used to cut off the humps of camels and the fat tails of sheep, and eat them and use their fat. When the Prophet ﷺ came, they asked him about that, and he said, "Whatever is cut from a beast while it is alive is dead."
