✧ Three things I heard for Banū Tamīm from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; after them I will never hate Tamīm at all. ʿĀʾishah had a vow to free a slave from the descendants of Ismāʿīl. Some captives from Banū al-ʿAnbar were taken, and he said to ʿĀʾishah, "If it pleases you to fulfill your vow, then free one of these." So he made them from the descendants of Ismāʿīl. And some camels from the zakāh livestock of Banū Saʿd were brought. When he saw them, it moved him, and he said, "These are the camels of my people." So he made them his people. And he said, "They are the strongest of people in fighting during the great battles."

machine translationDāwūd b. Abī Hind narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Maslamah b. ʿAlqamah narrated it from Dāwūd b. Abī Hind, from al-Shaʿbī, from Abū Hurayrah. And ʿAbd al-Wārith b. ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated it from his father, from his grandfather, from Dāwūd, who said: "I was told from Abū Hurayrah." It was asked: which of the two is more correct? He said: The hadith of Maslamah b. ʿAlqamah is sound (ṣaḥīḥ), and the statement of ʿUmar b. Shabbah is not to be rejected.
