أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ دُحَيْمٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ بِالْكُوفَةِ ثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ الْغِفَارِيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ طَرِيفٍ الْبَجَلِيُّ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي سَبْرَةَ النَّخَعِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْقُرَظِيِّ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ قَالَ

كُنَّا نَلْقَى النَّفَرَ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ وَهُمْ يَتَحَدَّثُونَ فَيَقْطَعُونَ حَدِيثَهُمْ فَذَكَرْنَا ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ يَتَحَدَّثُونَ فَإِذَا رَأَوُا الرَّجُلَ مِنْ أَهْلِي قَطَعُوا حَدِيثَهُمْ وَاللَّهِ لَا يَدْخُلُ قَلْبَ رَجُلٍ الْإِيمَانُ حَتَّى يُحِبَّهُمْ لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى وَلِقَرَابَتِي»

Translation

✧ We would meet a group of Quraysh while they were conversing, and they would stop their conversation. We mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: "What is the matter with people who converse, but when they see a man from my family, they stop their conversation? By Allah, faith will not enter the heart of a man until he loves them for the sake of Allah Almighty and for my kinship."
