✧ No Qurayshi woman is known to have left her parents' house as a Muslim emigrant to Allah and His Messenger except Umm Kulthum bt. ʿUqbah. She left Makkah alone and accompanied a man from Khuzāʿah until she arrived in Madinah during the truce of al-Ḥudaybiyyah. Her two brothers, al-Walīd and ʿUmārah, went out in pursuit of her and arrived at the time of her arrival. They said, 'O Muḥammad, [fulfill] for us our condition and what you pledged to us.' Concerning her was revealed: {When believing women come to you as emigrants} [al-Mumtaḥanah 10] — the verse. She had no husband in Makkah. When she arrived in Madinah, Zayd b. Ḥārithah married her, and he was killed leaving her. Then al-Zubayr b. al-ʿAwwām married her, and she bore him Zaynab. Then he divorced her. Then ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAwf married her, and she bore him Ibrāhīm and Ḥumayd, and he died leaving her. Then ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ married her, and she died leaving him.
