حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ عُثْمانَ الجَحْشِيُّ، عَنْ أبِيهِ، قالَ
قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ المَدِينَةَ، وكانَتْ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ جَحْشٍ مِمَّنْ هاجَرَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وكانَتِ امْرَأةً جَمِيلَةً، فَخَطَبَها رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلى زَيْدِ بْنِ حارِثَةَ، فَقالَتْ: لا أرْضاهُ وكانَتْ أيِّمَ قُرَيْشٍ، قالَ: «فَإنِّي قَدْ رَضِيتُهُ لَكِ» فَتَزَوَّجَها زَيْدٌ
Translation

- ʿUmar b. ʿUthmān al-Jaḥshī
✧ The Prophet ﷺ arrived in Madinah, and Zaynab bt. Jahsh was among those who emigrated with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She was a beautiful woman. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ proposed her for Zayd b. Harithah, but she said: "I do not accept him," for she was a widow of Quraysh. He said: "I am pleased with him for you." So Zayd married her.
