أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْكَارِزِيُّ ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثَنَا حَرَمِيُّ بْنُ حَفْصٍ الْعَتَكِيُّ ثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَقْرَبَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ عَتَّابَ بْنَ أُسَيْدٍ وَهُوَ مُسْنِدٌ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى بَيْتِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ «وَاللَّهِ مَا أَصَبْتُ فِي عَمَلِي هَذَا الَّذِي وَلَّانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِلَّا ثَوْبَيْنَ مُعَقَّدَيْنِ فَكَسَوْتُهُمَا كَيْسَانَ مَوْلَايَ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

✧ I heard ‘Attab b. Usayd, while he was leaning his back against the House of Allah, say: “By Allah, I have not obtained from this work of mine, which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed me to, except two striped garments, and I clothed my freedman Kaysan with them.” Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
