✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was narrating to his companions, and he was saying, "The time of knowledge has gone." I said, "By my father and mother, how can the time of knowledge go while we recite the Qur'an and teach it to our sons, and our sons teach it to their sons until the Hour stands?" He said, "May your mother be bereft of you, O Ibn Labid! I considered you one of the most understanding of the people of Madinah. Do not the Jews and Christians recite the Torah and the Gospel, yet they do not benefit from them at all?"
