أَخْبَرَنِي بَكْرُ بْنُ أَبِي دَارِمٍ الْحَافِظُ بِالْكُوفَةِ ثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ ثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ ثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ قَالَ
حَجَجْتُ أَنَا وَصَاحِبٌ لِي وَابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَلَى الْحَجِّ فَجَعَلَ «يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ النُّورِ وَيُفَسِّرُهَا» فَقَالَ صَاحِبِي يَا سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ مَاذَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْ رَأْسِ هَذَا الرَّجُلِ لَوْ سَمِعَتْ هَذَا التُّرْكَ لَأَسْلَمَتْ

✧ I performed Hajj along with a companion of mine while Ibn Abbas was leading the Hajj. He began reciting Surah al-Nur and explaining it. My companion said, 'Glory be to Allah! What comes out of this man's head! If the Turks had heard this, they would have embraced Islam.'
