حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا ثَنَا خَلِيفَةُ بْنُ خَيَّاطٍ قَالَ مَاتَ الْمِسْوَرُ بْنُ مَخْرَمَةَ بِمَكَّةَ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعٍ وَسِتِّينَ

وَيُقَالُ إِنَّهُ مَاتَ بِالْحَجُونِ أَصَابَهُ حَجَرُ الْمَنْجَنِيقِ وَهُوَ فِي الْحَجَرِ بِمَكَّةَ فَمَكَثَ خَمْسًا ثُمَّ مَاتَ وَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَمَانٍ وَسِتِّينَ سَنَةً

✧ It is said that he died at al-Hajun; a stone from a mangonel struck him while he was in the Hijr at Makkah. He lingered for five days, then died. Abdullah b. al-Zubayr prayed over him, and he was sixty-eight years old.
