✧ Safwan said when he struck him [al-bahr al-tawil]: Receive the tip of the sword from me, for I am a young man who, when insulted, is not a poet. But I protect what I protect and take revenge on the slanderer who accuses the innocent, pure ones. 'A'isha said: Safwan fled, and Hassan came seeking redress with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him to grant him Safwan's blow against him, and he granted it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ compensated him with a large garden of palm trees and a Roman slave girl called Sirin. Hassan sold the garden to Mu'awiya b. Abi Sufyan during his governorship for a great sum of money.
