فَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْجَهْمِ ثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ
«أَسْلَمَ مَخْرَمَةُ بْنُ نَوْفَلٍ عِنْدَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ وَكَانَ عَالِمًا بِنَسَبِ قُرَيْشٍ وَأَحَادِيثِهَا وَكَانَتْ لَهُ مَعْرِفَةٌ بِأَنْصَابِ الْحَرَمِ فَوَلَدُ مَخْرَمَةَ صَفْوَانُ وَبِهِ كَانَ يُكَنَّى وَهُوَ الْأَكْبَرُ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ»
Translation

✧ Makhrama b. Nawfal accepted Islam at the conquest of Makkah. He was knowledgeable in the genealogy of Quraysh and its traditions, and he had knowledge of the boundary markers of the Haram. Makhrama's son was Safwan, by whom he was given the kunya, and he was the eldest of his children.
