✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was staying with Abu Ayyub al-Ansari in an upper room, and his food was in a basket in a closet. A cat would come through the opening and take the food from the basket. Abu Ayyub complained about that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'That is a ghoul. When it comes, say to it: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ adjures you not to return.' He said: It came, and Abu Ayyub said to it: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ adjures you not to return. It said, 'O Abu Ayyub, let me off this time, for by Allah I will not return.' So he left it. Then he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him. It said that twice, then it said, 'Would you like me to teach you words which, if you say them, no devil will approach your house that night, that day, and the next day?' He said, 'Yes.' It said, 'Recite the Verse of the Throne: Allah, there is no god but He, the Living, the Sustainer [Qur'an 2:255].' He said: He came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and informed him, and he said, 'It spoke the truth, though it is a liar.' Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
