فَحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْحَافِظُ أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الثَّقَفِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ قَالَ
«عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ بْنُ وَائِلٍ قَدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ سَنَةَ ثَمَانٍ يُكَنَّى أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَتُوُفِّيَ بِمِصْرَ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ سَنَةَ اثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَرْبَعِينَ وَهُوَ وَالٍ عَلَيْهَا»
Translation

✧ Amr b. al-As b. Wa'il came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the year eight, with the kunya Abu Abd Allah, and died in Egypt on the day of Fitr in the year forty-two, while he was governor there.
