✧ From his two paternal uncles, Ya'la and Salamah, the two sons of Umayyah, who said: “We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the expedition of Tabuk, and with us was a companion of ours. A man fought him and bit his forearm, so he pulled it out of his mouth, and his two front teeth fell out. He went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seeking blood money. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Would one of you go to his brother and bite him like a stallion bites, then come after that seeking blood money? Go away, for you have no blood money.’” So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ invalidated it. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in al-Talkhis.

machine translationṢafwān b. ʿAbdullāh b. Yaʿlā b. Umayyah al-Tamīmī narrated from his two paternal uncles, Salamah b. Umayyah and Yaʿlā b. Umayyah, the two sons of Umayyah, the hadith of the mountain pass (al-thaniyyah). ʿAṭāʾ b. Abī Rabāḥ narrated it from him with this wording. Muḥammad b. Isḥāq said this from him. But more than one person narrated it from ʿAṭāʾ, from Ṣafwān b. Yaʿlā b. Umayyah, from his father, and that is the preserved (maḥfūẓ) version.
