أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الصَّفَّارُ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ سَلَمَةَ يَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ عَمَّارَ بْنَ يَاسِرٍ يَوْمَ صِفِّينَ شَيْخًا طُوَالًا أَخَذَ الْحَرْبَةَ بِيَدِهِ وَيَدُهُ تَرْعَدُ فَقَالَ

«وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَقَدْ قَاتَلْتُ بِهَذِهِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَهَذِهِ الرَّابِعَةُ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ ضَرَبُونَا حَتَّى يَبْلُغُوا بِنَا سَعَفَاتِ هَجَرَ لَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّا عَلَى الْحَقِّ وَهُمْ عَلَى الْبَاطِلِ» سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

✧ “By the One in whose hand is my soul, I have fought with this [spear] alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ three times, and this is the fourth.” Then he said, “By the One in whose hand is my soul, if they were to strike us until they drive us to the palm fronds of Hajar, I would know that we are upon the truth and they are upon falsehood.” Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
