أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُؤَمَّلِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عِيسَى ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ثَنَا جَنْدَلُ بْنُ وَالْقٍ ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْمَازِنِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي عَامِرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ عَنْ ثَوْرِ بْنِ مَجْزَأَةَ قَالَ

مَرَرْتُ بِطَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْجَمَلِ وَهُوَ صَرِيعٌ فِي آخِرِ رَمَقٍ فَوَقَفْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَأَرَى وَجْهَ رَجُلٍ كَأَنَّهُ الْقَمَرُ مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ؟ فَقُلْتُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيٍّ فَقَالَ ابْسُطْ يَدَكَ أُبَايِعُكَ فَبَسَطْتُ يَدِي وَبَايَعَنِي فَفَاضَتْ نَفْسُهُ فَأَتَيْتُ عَلِيًّا فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِقَوْلِ طَلْحَةَ فَقَالَ «اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ صَدَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَبَى اللَّهُ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ طَلْحَةَ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا وَبَيْعَتِي فِي عُنُقِهِ»

✧ I passed by Talha b. Ubaidullah on the Day of the Camel, and he was lying wounded in his last moments. I stopped by him, and he raised his head and said: "I see the face of a man like the moon. Who are you?" I said: "From the companions of the Commander of the Believers, Ali." He said: "Extend your hand, I pledge allegiance to you." I extended my hand, and he pledged allegiance to me, then his soul departed. I came to Ali and told him what Talha had said, and he said: "Allah is greatest, Allah is greatest. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke the truth: Allah refused that Talha enter Paradise except with my allegiance upon his neck."
