✧ When the Day of the Camel came, Ali called out among the people: "Do not shoot anyone with an arrow, do not thrust with a spear, do not strike with a sword, and do not pursue the people, for this is a station where whoever succeeds in it will succeed on the Day of Resurrection." He said: So we faced each other. Then the people all said: "O vengeance for Uthman!" He said: And Ibn al-Hanafiyya was our imam on a hillock, with the banner with him. He said: Ali called him, and he came toward us, turning his face, and said: "O Commander of the Believers, they are saying: 'O vengeance for Uthman!'" Ali stretched out his hands and said: "O Allah, throw the killers of Uthman down today on their faces." Then al-Zubayr said to the cavalrymen who were with him: "Shoot them with a volley," as if he wanted the fighting to break out. When his companions saw it break out, they did not wait and charged, and Allah defeated them. Marwan b. al-Hakam shot Talha b. Ubaidullah with an arrow, and it pierced his leg against the side of his horse, and the horse pulled him along until he caught up with it and slaughtered it. Marwan turned to Aban b. Uthman, who was with him, and said: "I have spared you one of the killers of your father."
