✧ Ali said to Zubayr, 'Do you remember the day when you and I were in the portico of a group of the Ansar, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to you, "Do you love him?" I said, "What prevents me?" He said, "Indeed, you will go out against him and fight him while you are an oppressor." He said, so Zubayr turned back. The hadith contains some doubt.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationLawīn Muḥammad b. Sulaymān narrated it from Muḥammad b. Sulaymān, a shaykh of his, from Ismāʿīl, from Qays, from al-Zubayr. But this is not from the ḥadīth of Qays. Rather, Ismāʿīl narrated it from ʿAbd al-Salām, a man from Ḥayyah. So said Yaʿlā from Ismāʿīl, and he is ʿAbd al-Salām b. ʿAbdillāh b. Jābir al-Aḥmasī, from al-Zubayr. And this ʿAbd al-Salām did not meet al-Zubayr, so it is disconnected (mursal).
