✧ One day I was in the mosque when Abu Jahl came and said: 'I vow by Allah that if I see Muhammad prostrating, I will step on his neck.' So I went out to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and entered upon him and informed him of Abu Jahl's words. He went out angry until he came to the mosque. He hurried before entering from the gate and leapt over the wall. I said: 'This is a day of evil.' I wrapped my lower garment and followed him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered while reciting: 'Read in the name of your Lord who created, created man from a clinging clot.' When he reached the matter of Abu Jahl, {No! Indeed, man transgresses because he sees himself self-sufficient} [al-'Alaq: 7], a man said to Abu Jahl: 'O Abu al-Hakam, this is Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' Abu Jahl said: 'Do you not see what I see? By Allah, he has filled the horizon of the sky against me.' When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reached the end of the surah, he prostrated.
