أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ ثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ قَالَ

قِيلَ لِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ إِنَّ نِسْوَةً مِنْ بَنِي الْمُغِيرَةِ قَدِ اجْتَمَعْنَ فِي دَارِ خَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ يَبْكِينَ وَإِنَّا نَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَؤْذِينَكَ فَلَوْ نَهَيْتُهُنَّ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ «مَا عَلَيْهِنَّ أَنْ يُهْرِقْنَ مِنْ دُمُوعِهِنَّ سَجْلًا أَوْ سَجْلَيْنِ مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ لَقْعٌ وَلَا لَقْلَقَةٌ» يَعْنِي بِاللَّقْعِ اللَّطْمُ وبِالْلَقْلَقَةِ الصُّرَاخُ سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

✧ It was said to Umar b. al-Khattab: "Some women of Banu al-Mughira have gathered in the house of Khalid b. al-Walid weeping, and we dislike that they should disturb you. Would you forbid them?" Umar said: "What harm is there if they shed a bucket or two of their tears, as long as there is no laq' or laqlaqa?" He meant by laq' slapping and by laqlaqa wailing. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
