حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ
«كَانَ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ شَابًّا جَمِيلًا سَمْحًا مِنْ خَيْرِ شَبَابِ قَوْمِهِ لَا يُسْأَلُ شَيْئًا إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ حَتَّى ادَّانَ دَيْنًا أَغْلَقَ مَالَهُ»
