فَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رُسْتَةَ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ
ثُمَّ إِنَّ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ أَفْلَتَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَلَحِقَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَذَلِكَ بَعْدَ الْخَنْدَقِ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّهُ ضُبَاعَةُ بِنْتُ عَامِرِ بْنِ قَرَظِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ قُشَيْرِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ [البحر الرجز] لَا هُمَّ رَبَّ الْكَعْبَةِ الْمُحَرَّمَةِ أَظْهِرْ عَلَى كُلِّ عَدُوٍّ سَلَمَهْ لَهُ يَدَانِ فِي الْأُمُورِ الْمُبْهَمَةِ كَفٌّ بِهَا يُعْطِي وَكَفٌّ مُنْعِمَهْ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ حَتَّى قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَخَرَجَ مَعَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ إِلَى الشَّامِ حِينَ بَعَثَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْجُيُوشَ لِجِهَادِ الرُّومِ فَقُتِلَ سَلَمَةُ شَهِيدًا بِمَرْجِ الصُّفَّرِ فِي الْمُحَرَّمِ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعَ عَشْرَةَ فِي خِلَافَةِ عُمَرَ ؓ

✧ Then Salamah b. Hisham escaped after that and rejoined the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Madinah, and that was after the Battle of the Trench. His mother Duba'ah bt. 'Amir b. Qaraz b. Salamah b. Qushayr b. Ka'b b. 'Amir b. Rabi'ah said (in rajaz verse): "O Allah, Lord of the sacred Ka'bah, grant Salamah victory over every enemy. He has two hands in obscure affairs: one hand by which he gives and a generous hand." He remained with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away. Then he went out with the Muslims to Syria when Abu Bakr dispatched the armies to fight the Romans. Salamah was killed as a martyr at Marj al-Suffar in Muharram of the year 14 during the caliphate of 'Umar ؓ.
