فَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْحَافِظُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ثنا سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مَعْمَرِ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ حَدَّثَنِي خَالِدُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي أَنَّ أَعْمَامَهُ خَالِدًا وَأَبَانَا وَعَمْرَو بْنَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ رَجَعُوا
عَنْ أَعْمَالِهِمْ حِينَ بَلَغَهُمْ وَفَاةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ «مَا أَحَدٌ أَحَقَّ بِالْعَمَلِ مِنْ عُمَّالِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ ارْجِعُوا إِلَى أَعْمَالِكُمْ» فَقَالُوا لَا نَعْمَلُ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِأَحَدٍ فَخَرَجُوا إِلَى الشَّامِ فَقُتِلُوا عَنْ آخِرُهُمْسكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص

✧ About their offices when the news of the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reached them, Abu Bakr said, 'No one has a greater right to the office than the governors of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Return to your offices.' They said, 'We will not work for anyone after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' So they went out to Syria and were all killed. Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
