✧ Khalid's Islam was early, and he was the first of his brothers to accept Islam. The beginning of his Islam was that he saw in a dream that he was standing at the edge of the Fire, as if his father was pushing him into it, and he saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ holding him by the waist so that he would not fall. He woke up frightened and said, 'I swear by Allah, this is a true vision.' He met Abu Bakr ibn Abi Quhafah and mentioned that to him. Abu Bakr said, 'Good is intended for you. This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so follow him. You will follow him and enter with him into Islam, and Islam will prevent you from entering it, while your father will fall into it.' He met the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was at Ajyad and said, 'O Muhammad, to what do you call?' He said, 'I call to Allah alone with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, and that you abandon what you were upon of worshipping a stone that does not harm or benefit and does not know who worships it from who does not.' Khalid said, 'I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' So he accepted Islam. His father sent in search of him those of his remaining children who had not accepted Islam, and Rafi', his freedman. They found him and brought him to his father Abu Uhayhah. He rebuked him and reproached him and struck him with a staff in his hand until he broke it on his head. Then he said, 'You have followed Muhammad when you see his people oppose him, and what he has brought of defaming their gods and the faults of their forefathers.' Khalid said, 'He has spoken the truth, by Allah, and I have followed him.' His father Abu Uhayhah became angry and reviled him, then said, 'Go, you lowly one, wherever you wish. By Allah, I will deny you sustenance.' Khalid said, 'If you deny me, Allah ﷻ will provide me with what I live on.' So he expelled him and said to his sons, 'None of you speak to him or I will do to him what I did to him.' Khalid went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he honored him and stayed with him. Al-Dhahabi omitted it from the Talkhis due to its weakness.
