أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا أَبُو الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ ثنا أَبُو مَسْلَمَةَ ثنا أَبُو نَضْرَةَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ
لَمَّا حَضَرَ قِتَالُ أُحُدٍ دَعَانِي أَبِي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَا أُرَانِي إِلَّا مَقْتُولًا فِي أَوَّلِ مَنْ يُقْتَلُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ مَا أَدَعُ أَحَدًا يَعْنِي أَعَزَّ عَلَيَّ مِنْكَ بَعْدَ نَفْسِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَإِنَّ عَلَيَّ دَيْنًا فَاقْضِ عَنِّي دَيْنِي وَاسْتَوْصِ بِأَخَوَاتِكَ خَيْرًا قَالَ فَأَصْبَحْنَا فَكَانَ أَوَّلُ قَتِيلٍ فَدَفَنْتُهُ مَعَ آخَرَ فِي قَبْرٍ ثُمَّ لَمْ تَطِبْ نَفْسِي أَنْ أَتْرُكَهُ مَعَ آخَرَ فِي قَبْرٍ فَاسْتَخْرَجْتُهُ بَعْدَ سِتَّةِ أَشْهُرٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ كَيَوْمِ وَضَعْتُهُ غَيْرَ أُذُنِهِ

✧ When the fighting of Uhud drew near, my father called me at night and said: 'I do not consider myself anything but killed among the first of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to be killed. By Allah, I do not leave anyone more dear to me than you after the person of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I have a debt, so pay off my debt, and take good care of your sisters.' He said: So the next morning we arose, and he was the first to be killed. I buried him with another person in one grave, then my soul was not at ease to leave him with another in one grave, so I exhumed him after six months, and there he was, as on the day I laid him, except for his ear.
