حَدَّثَنَاهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْخُرَسَانِيُّ الْعَدْلُ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ السُّلَمِيُّ ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ الْمَازِنِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ

سَمِعَ رَجُلًا بِالْمَدِينَةِ يَقُولُ جَاءَ جَدِّي بِأَبِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ هَذَا وَلَدِي فَمَا أُسَمِّيهِ؟ قَالَ «سَمِّهِ بِأَحَبِّ النَّاسِ إِلَيَّ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ» قَدْ قَصَّرَ هَذَا الرَّاوِي الْمَجْهُولُ بِرِوَايَةِ الْحَدِيثِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ وَالْقَوْلُ فِيهِ قَوْلُ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ وَقَدْ كَانَ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الْحَافِظُ يُنَاظِرُنِي أَنَّ الْبُخَارِيَّ قَدْ رَوَى عَنْهُ فِي الْجَامِعِ الصَّحِيحِ وَكُنْتُ آبَى عَلَيْهِ حذفه الذهبي من التلخيص لضعفه

✧ He heard a man in Madinah say: My grandfather brought my father to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "This is my son; what shall I name him?" He said, "Name him after the most beloved of people to me: Hamza b. Abd al-Muttalib." This unknown narrator fell short in reporting the hadith from Ibn Uyayna, and the statement about it is the statement of Ya'qub b. Humayd. Abu Ahmad al-Hafiz used to debate with me that al-Bukhari narrated from him in the Sahih, but I refused. Al-Dhahabi omitted it from the Talkhis because of his weakness.
