✧ Utbah and Ubaydah exchanged two blows, each of which wounded the other. Hamzah and Ali returned upon Utbah and killed him, and they carried their companion Ubaydah and brought him to the Prophet ﷺ. His leg had been cut off and its marrow was flowing. When they brought Ubaydah to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said, "Am I not a martyr, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Yes." Ubaydah said, "If Abu Talib were alive, he would know that we are more deserving of what he said when he recited: 'We surrender him until we are struck down around him, and we become heedless of our children and wives.'" Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in the Talkhis.
