✧ I was my father's guide after he lost his sight. Whenever he heard the call to prayer on Friday, he would say, "May Allah have mercy on As'ad b. Zurarah." After some time, I thought I should ask my father why, whenever he heard the call to prayer, he said, "May Allah have mercy on As'ad b. Zurarah." So I said, "O my father, it amazes me that you pray for Abu Umamah every time you hear the call for Friday prayer." He said, "O my son, he was the first to lead the Friday prayer for us in Madinah, in a depression of the Harrah of Banu Bayadah, in a place called al-Khadimat." I said, "How many were you that day?" He said, "Forty men."

  • Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī

هذا حديث حسن الإسناد صحيح فإن ابن إسحاق إذا ذكر سماعه وكان الراوي عنه ثقة استقام الإسناد

machine translationThis hadith has a good (ḥasan) chain and is sound (ṣaḥīḥ), for when Ibn Isḥāq states that he heard it directly, and the one narrating from him is trustworthy (thiqah), the chain is sound.

  • ابن الملقن

هو من رواية ابن إسحاق وهو مدلس وقد قال في رواية أبي داود عن لكن في أكثر روايات البيهقي قال حدثني

machine translationIt is from the narration of Ibn Isḥāq, and he is a concealer of defects in transmission (mudallis). In the narration of Abū Dāwūd he said "from" (ʿan), but in most of the narrations of al-Bayhaqī he said "he narrated to me" (ḥaddathanī).
