✧ "And I swear by the One whom I have taken an oath of allegiance to, if Ali were to make a covenant with the people, he would be the closest to the Prophet ﷺ. We returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the morning, and he was saying, 'Has Ali come? Has Ali come?' repeatedly. Fatimah said, 'It is as if you have sent him on an errand.' She then said, 'He came afterwards.' Abi Salamah said, 'I thought he had some urgent need for him.' So we left the house and sat by the door, and I was closest to the door. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and poured his left hand on him and spoke to him privately. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away that day. So Ali was the closest to the people in commitment."
