أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عِيسَى السَّبِيعِيُّ بِالْكُوفَةِ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ الْجِيزِيُّ ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْأَشْقَرُ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ خُثَيْمٍ الْهِلَالِيُّ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ قَالَ
حَجَجْنَا فَمَرَرْنَا عَلَى الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَمَعَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ حُدَيْجٍ فَقِيلَ لِلْحَسَنِ إِنَّ هَذَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ حُدَيْجٍ السَّابُ لِعَلِيٍّ فَقَالَ عَلَيَّ بِهِ فَأُتِيَ بِهِ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ السَّابُّ لِعَلِيٍّ؟ فَقَالَ مَا فَعَلْتَ فَقَالَ «وَاللَّهِ إِنْ لَقِيتُهُ وَمَا أَحْسَبُكَ تَلَقَّاهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَتَجِدَهُ قَائِمًا عَلَى حَوْضِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَذُودُ عَنْهُ رَايَاتِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ بِيَدِهِ عَصًا مِنْ عَوْسَجٍ» حَدَّثَنِيهِ الصَّادِقُ الْمَصْدُوقُ ﷺ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنَ افْتَرَى

✧ We performed Hajj and passed by al-Hasan b. 'Ali in Madinah, and with us was Mu'awiya b. Hudayj. It was said to al-Hasan, "This is Mu'awiya b. Hudayj, the reviler of 'Ali." He said, "Bring him to me." So he was brought, and he said, "Are you the reviler of 'Ali?" He replied, "I did not do that." He said, "By Allah, if I meet him—and I do not think you will meet him on the Day of Resurrection—you will find him standing at the Pool of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, driving away from it the banners of the hypocrites with a stick of 'awsaj in his hand. The truthful and trusted one ﷺ narrated this to me, and whoever fabricates has failed."
