✧ I heard Abu Abdullah al-Jadali say: I performed Hajj as a boy, and I passed by Madinah, and the people were a single neck, so I followed them. They entered upon Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, and I heard her say, 'O Shabib b. Rib'i,' and a rough, coarse man answered her, 'At your service, O mother.' She said, 'Is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reviled in your gathering?' He said, 'How could that be?' She said, 'Ali b. Abi Talib.' He said, 'We say things desiring the goods of this world.' She said, 'For I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever reviles Ali has reviled me, and whoever reviles me has reviled Allah the Exalted."' Al-Dhahabi remained silent about it in al-Talkhis.
